LTAR

The USDA-ARS Long-term Agroecosystem Research Network focuses on sustainable intensification and profitability of agroecosystems and has developed protocols and research questions to evaluate current agricultural practices with aspirational practices that promote sustainability and enhance ecosystem services. There are > 400 scientists at 18 sites across the US, which represent major agroecosystem types and span geographic and climatic gradients. The network has extensive collaborations with stakeholders, producers, and industry in pursuit of its mission of sustainable agricultural intensification.

ResNet

ResNet is an NSERC-funded pan-Canadian network initiated in 2019. It focuses on broad questions of resilience, scale, and ecosystem services in multiple working landscapes of Canada. It is composed of six landscape case studies (four of which are agricultural) working together to improve Canada’s capacity to monitor, model, and manage ecosystem services in large working landscapes that encompass several counties. Each landscape case works directly with local decision-makers, including farmers, government agencies, on an ecosystem service-related decision or conflict. All landscapes are collecting data on ecosystem to facilitate crosslandscape comparison with the ultimate goal of developing an ecosystem services observatory for Canada.
